“I don’t want to simply create pieces of jewellery.
I want to discover something about the Universe, or about myself through each piece I create.
Something meaningful and tangible.”

Ezra Satok-Wolman

Award winning jewellery artist and master goldsmith Ezra Satok-Wolman will present a lecture on his studio practice and the common thread that connects the projects he has worked on over the last decade. From theorizing about the shape of the Universe in “The Mathematical Fingerprint of God” project, to engineering a system of body adornment for the future in “Jewellery for Astronauts and Space Travellers,” Satok-Wolman’s work is an exploration of the geometry of the Universe itself and the relationship between nature and Mathematics.

Conceptually, the artist takes a philosophical approach to the jewellery he creates, rather than creating pieces that are narrative or illustrative, and describes making jewellery as an exercise of discovery as much as it is one of creation. Drawing from historical references that range from Pythagoras to Antoni Gaudi to Buckminster Fuller, the artist will discuss the major influences in his work and the importance of research and experimentation in his process.
