One of the international guests of the Kuopio Academy of Design in Design Triennale Kuopio is Constanze Unger, Director of the Design Academy of Münster, who will be lecturing us about the design education, international co-operation and the relevance of the famous German art and architecture school Bauhaus.

Constanze Unger

Was born 1953 in Weimar, Germany. Unger studied visual arts/design in Pforzheim/Kassel and fine art at the Academy of Fine Arts Düsseldorf department Münster since 1981. Exhibitions, performances and installations in public space since 1990. Director of Academy of Design and Crafts Münster.

“The field of my artwork is performance as a visual art form and its recording in photographs and installations incorporating various influences of feminism, cultural criticism and the body and identity politics. The subtext of my work is the role of art within the context of financial and economic policies and its effects on society.”

“As a teacher my main emphasis lies on design theory and design history as well as artistic strategies in the field of design. Together with the students I am researching and experimenting manufacturing processes and the work with materials while focusing on ecology, sustainability, fairness and social relationship.”
